Amy Martin’s Time Travel Posters

I love these posters and their retro aesthetic. “Amy Martin has teamed up with 826LA and the Echo Park Time Travel Mart to produce a second collection of time-travel themed posters.  They are all 18″ x 24″, and they cost $19.99 each (or $69.99 for all four).  The proceeds will go to benefit 826LA, a nonprofit dedicated to helping students 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.  The last series of posters raised over $30,000 for the cause.”  Visit 826LA.org.

Bomb Shelter Decor for Post-Nuclear Living

In the days of duck-and-cover drills and atomic anxiety, many families bought space in bomb shelters, stocking and decorating their possible nuclear homes. Richard Ross’s photographs capture the abandoned shelters and what some families planned to take to the apocalypse.”

Ross’s book Waiting for the End of the World contains photographs and accounts of bomb shelters from across America, Europe, and Asia. Below are photos from just a few of those shelters: shelters in Sanpete and Salt Lake City, Utah, the Phillip Hoag and Charlie Hull Shelters in Emigrant, Montana, oil tycoon’s Ling Chieh Kung’s shelter in Conroe, Texas, and a public shelter near Zurich.” See more images after the jump.

“He began his career with a series of cartoons featuring beautiful girls and their far from handsome beaus. His work coined the term “Petty Girls to describe the carefully airbrushed girls with brilliant smiles and sexy poses.”
